A very good book which is written by Ivan Bayross about the pl sql language. It's this free ebook that explains how to write your first program with pl sql. This book is for beginner programmers who want to write programs which will run on the Microsoft SQL Server database engine. Introduction This lesson plan, "Intro To Pl Sql Using The Hello World Program," introduces students to programming languages by producing a running example of a program written in the Pl Sql language." To start this lesson, let's introduce our students with what they need to know about SQL Server and then what they will learn in this lesson. First, students will be introduced with database terminology. Database Terms There are many new terms for students to remember. With the intention of placing the focus on an understanding of what these terms mean rather than definitions, this lesson doesn't define any new terms. Later lessons do define all new terms used in this lesson. This section will be divided into two subsections: "When You Are Working With SQL Server" and "When You Are Working With Oracle". Students should read both sections because many concepts are shared between DBMSs. For example, relational database and normalized database tables share similarities between DBMSs. This lesson begins by defining an entity relationship diagram (ERD). It discusses ERDs as a method for simplifying database design and as a basis for understanding database design principles. There are many things we need to know about SQL Server to be able to work with it. We need to know what data types and classes we can expect and how they will behave. We also need to understand the difference between the two: SQL Server and Oracle. SQL Server - A Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) SQL Server was originally introduced by Microsoft in 1987 as Analysis Services (AS). The name was later changed to Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL Server) in 1995. SQL Server has grown to be one of the most dominant systems used in business today by organizations around the world, including governments and large corporations. There are many different versions of SQL Server that are available. SQL Server Express is one version that you can download for free for your personal use provided that you have a Windows Live ID. It is very much like WIndows Mobile edition, so you can use it on your Windows 7 desktop but it runs on your Windows 7 mobile device if you have a Windows Live ID account. The SQL Server Express version does not require other Microsoft products such as Exchange or Sharepoint, but it can be used to connect to one of them through a connection manager. The maximum amount of users supported is 2. But if you want more you need to upgrade and get the full version. There are many different types of databases: Data: A collection of data without any structure. Structure: The way data is organized in data. Structured data can be hierarchical, relational, etc; relational denotes that the structure involves relationships between the items in a table such as students and teachers in a school database or rows and columns in a table like an address book. eccc085e13
